Welcome to Puriva ("we", "our", or "us"), developed by TigerApps / AKZ Marketing LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile application Puriva — Know What You Eat ("the App").
Puriva helps you understand what's in your food by scanning barcodes and product labels. It provides health scores, nutritional information, ingredient analysis, recipe suggestions, and a grocery list feature. Some features use AI (Anthropic Claude) to analyze label photos and generate recipes.
By using the App, you agree to the terms described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Information You Provide:
⚠️ Important: Label photos you submit for AI analysis are sent to our secure Vercel API server, which forwards them to Anthropic's Claude AI for processing. Do not photograph documents containing sensitive personal information.
Locally Stored Data (on your device only):
✅ Your scan history, grocery list, and health profile are stored locally on your device only. We do not store your personal data on our servers.
Automatically Collected Information:
When you scan a product barcode, the barcode number is sent to our API which queries the following free public databases:
Barcode scans do not use AI and have no cost to you. The barcode number itself is not stored on our servers.

When you use "Scan Label" (photo of ingredients), the image is:
The analysis result is returned to your device and optionally saved to your local scan history. We do not read, store, or analyze the content of your photos on our servers.
✅ We never sell or share the content of your label photos with any third party for advertising, training, or any other purpose.
When you tap "Get Quick Recipes", the product name, brand, and ingredient list (already fetched from the food database) are sent to our API and processed by Claude AI to generate recipe suggestions. No photos or personal information are involved in recipe generation.
Generated recipes are displayed in the app and not stored on our servers.
Your allergen profile and dietary preferences (vegan, gluten-free, keto, etc.) are stored exclusively on your device using local storage. This data is never sent to our servers or any third party.
This data is used only within the app to warn you when a scanned product may conflict with your profile.
✅ Your health profile stays on your device. We never see it.
⚠️ Puriva's allergen and dietary warnings are for informational purposes only and are not a substitute for reading product labels carefully or consulting a medical professional. Do not rely solely on Puriva for allergy management.
Your grocery list is stored locally on your device only. Items you add from recipes are saved to your device's local storage and are never transmitted to our servers. The grocery list is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear app data.
Puriva offers an optional cloud backup feature using your Google account. This feature is completely optional — the app works fully without it.
What happens when you sign in with Google:
✅ Your data is stored on Google's servers (Firebase) in the europe-west1 region. Only you can access it — our security rules ensure no other user or administrator can read your data.

⚠️ If you do not use the Google Sign-In feature, no data is ever sent to Firebase. All your data remains on your device only.
Puriva uses a credit system to manage AI feature usage:
Credit balances are stored on your device only. They are not synced across devices or backed up to our servers.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.

All local data is deleted when you uninstall the app. You can clear your scan history at any time in the History tab.
The current version of Puriva does not display third-party advertisements. Future versions may include optional rewarded video ads (to earn free credits) using AppLovin MAX. This policy will be updated before any ad network is added.
In-app purchase options are available to remove any future ads permanently.
Puriva offers optional in-app purchases processed through Google Play Billing. We do not collect or store any payment information. All transactions are handled securely by Google Play.

Puriva is rated for users 13 and older. The app uses AI to analyze food products, which requires internet access and API processing. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age.

Puriva is available worldwide and supports 16 languages. When you use AI features, your data is processed through our API server (hosted in the United States via Vercel) and Anthropic's AI infrastructure. By using the app, you consent to this data transfer.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to access, correct, and delete your data. Since all personal data is stored locally on your device, you can exercise these rights by clearing app data or uninstalling the app. Contact us for any other GDPR requests.

We respect your right to delete your data. Here is how to delete your Puriva account and all associated data:
✅ To delete your account and all data: open Puriva → Settings → Account & Sync → Sign Out. Your cloud data will be permanently deleted from our servers within 30 days.

Delete specific data without deleting your account:
Puriva provides Halal and Kosher ingredient analysis for users who have selected a Muslim or Jewish dietary profile. Our team has invested significant effort in building this feature using certified ingredient databases, E-number research, and established Islamic and Jewish dietary law guidelines.
⚠️ Important: Puriva's Halal and Kosher analysis is for informational purposes only and does NOT constitute an official Halal or Kosher certification. Results are based on ingredient and E-number analysis only and cannot account for manufacturing cross-contamination, shared equipment, or the specific source of ambiguous ingredients (such as gelatine, which may be Halal or Haram depending on its animal source).
Always verify with the official Halal or Kosher certification mark on the product packaging. For critical dietary decisions, consult a qualified Islamic scholar or Kosher certification authority.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
