Welcome to Dermiva ("we", "our", or "us"), developed by TigerApps / AKZ Marketing LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile application Dermiva — AI Cosmetics & INCI Scanner ("the App").
Dermiva helps you understand what's in your cosmetics, skincare, haircare, and makeup products by scanning barcodes and INCI ingredient labels. It provides safety scores, ingredient breakdowns, allergen warnings, personalized skincare routines, and safer product alternatives. Some features use AI (Anthropic Claude) to analyze ingredient labels and generate routines.
By using the App, you agree to the terms described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Information You Provide:
⚠️ Important: Label photos you submit for AI analysis are sent to our secure Vercel API server, which forwards them to Anthropic's Claude AI for processing. Do not photograph documents containing sensitive personal information.
Locally Stored Data (on your device only):
✅ Your scan history, wishlist, and skin profile are stored locally on your device only. We do not store your personal data on our servers.
Automatically Collected Information:
When you scan a product barcode, the barcode number is sent to our API which queries the following free public databases:
Barcode scans do not use AI for basic product lookup and have no credit cost to you. Only the barcode number is transmitted; the scan result is then enriched with safety analysis if the product exists in our database.

When you use "Scan Label" (photo of INCI ingredients), the image is:
The analysis result is returned to your device and optionally saved to your local scan history. We do not read, store, or analyze the content of your photos on our servers for any purpose other than providing the requested analysis.
✅ We never sell or share the content of your label photos with any third party for advertising, training, or any other purpose.
Dermiva allows users to submit missing products to our community database by uploading photos of the product front and the INCI ingredient label. When you submit a product:
⚠️ Product photos you submit become part of our public product database and may be seen by other users. Do not include personal information, faces, or anything private in your photos.
You earn app credits for each successful submission as a contribution reward. If you wish to have one of your submissions removed from the database, contact us at the email below with the barcode and approximate submission date.
When you tap "Generate AI Routine" (costs 1 credit), the scanned product's name, brand, and ingredient list, along with your skin/lifestyle profile (diets, allergens, concerns), are sent to our API and processed by Claude AI to generate a personalized skincare routine around that product. No photos or personally identifying information are involved in routine generation.
Generated routines may be saved to your device's local storage for later viewing. They are not stored on our servers.
For products with lower safety scores (grades C, D, or E), premium users can view AI-generated safer alternative recommendations. This feature sends the product's name, brand, and category to our API where Claude AI suggests higher-rated products from the same category. No personal information is transmitted. Results are displayed in-app and not stored on our servers.
Your skin profile and lifestyle preferences (vegan, pregnancy-safe, baby-safe, sensitive skin, halal/kosher, clean/natural, etc.) are stored exclusively on your device using local storage. This data is never sent to our servers, except transiently during routine generation (where it's used to personalize the output and then discarded).
This data is used within the app to warn you when a scanned cosmetic product may conflict with your profile.
✅ Your skin profile stays on your device. We never store it.
⚠️ Dermiva's allergen and skincare warnings are for informational purposes only and are not a substitute for reading product labels carefully or consulting a dermatologist. Do not rely solely on Dermiva for allergy management or medical skin conditions.
Your wishlist of favorited products is stored locally on your device only. Items you add are saved to your device's local storage and are never transmitted to our servers. The wishlist is deleted when you uninstall the app or clear app data.
Dermiva uses a credit system to manage premium AI feature usage:
Credit balances are stored on your device only. They are not synced across devices or backed up to our servers.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.

All local data is deleted when you uninstall the app. You can clear your scan history at any time in the History tab.
The current version of Dermiva does not display third-party advertisements. Future versions may include non-intrusive banner ads or optional rewarded video ads (to earn free credits) via AppLovin MAX. This policy will be updated before any ad network is enabled.
In-app purchase options are available to remove any future ads permanently.
Dermiva offers optional in-app purchases processed through Google Play Billing. We do not collect or store any payment information. All transactions are handled securely by Google Play.

Dermiva is rated for users 13 and older. The app uses AI to analyze cosmetic products, which requires internet access and API processing. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age.

Dermiva is available worldwide and supports multiple languages. When you use AI features, your data is processed through our API server (hosted in the United States via Vercel) and Anthropic's AI infrastructure. By using the app, you consent to this data transfer.
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to access, correct, and delete your data. Most personal data is stored locally on your device, so you can exercise these rights by clearing app data or uninstalling the app. For community-submitted product data (photos and ingredients you contributed), contact us with the barcode and approximate submission date to request removal.

We respect your right to delete your data. Dermiva does not require account creation, so most of your data is already stored locally and under your full control.
✅ To delete all your local data: uninstall Dermiva from your device, or go to Android Settings → Apps → Dermiva → Storage → Clear Data.

Dermiva provides Halal, Kosher, and vegan ingredient analysis for users who have selected relevant dietary profiles. Our analysis uses INCI ingredient standards, Islamic and Jewish dietary guidelines, and vegan cosmetic ingredient research to flag potentially problematic ingredients.
⚠️ Important: Dermiva's Halal, Kosher, and vegan analysis is for informational purposes only and does NOT constitute an official Halal or Kosher certification. Results are based on ingredient name analysis only and cannot account for manufacturing cross-contamination, shared equipment, or the specific source of ambiguous ingredients (such as glycerin, which may be plant- or animal-derived depending on source).
Always verify with the official Halal, Kosher, or vegan certification mark on the product packaging. For critical dietary or religious decisions, consult a qualified Islamic scholar, Kosher certification authority, or vegan certification body.
Dermiva provides cosmetic ingredient information and safety scores for informational purposes only. The information provided by Dermiva is not medical or dermatological advice and should not be used as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Always read product labels carefully and consult a dermatologist or healthcare professional for skincare advice, especially if you have sensitive skin, allergies, are pregnant, or have medical skin conditions.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
