๐ Introduction
Welcome to Decade Trivia ("we", "our", or "us"), developed by TigerApps / AKZ Marketing LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile application Decade Trivia ("the App").
Decade Trivia is a nostalgia trivia game covering the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. You pick a decade, answer questions about music, movies, headlines, sports, and brands from that era, and track your stats across multiple game modes including Classic, Speed, Survival, and The Big Climb. Your username, stats, achievements, and game progress are stored on your device.
By using the App, you agree to the terms described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
๐ฑ Information We Collect
โ
Decade Trivia does not require an account. Your game progress, stats, and username are stored on your device. We do not have any servers that hold your personal information.
Information You Provide (stored locally on your device only):
- The username you choose (which can be a real name, nickname, or anything you like โ we recommend not using a real name)
- Your game scores, accuracy, streaks, and stats per decade and category
- Achievements you have unlocked
- Certificates you have earned (Decade Master, Trivia Genius, Family Champion, etc.) and any photo you choose to attach to a certificate before sharing it
- Your preferences: sound on/off, haptic feedback on/off, dark mode, notifications on/off
- Daily challenge streak history
- Recently played question IDs (used to avoid repeating questions)
- Reports you submit when flagging a question as wrong, offensive, or unclear
Automatically Collected Information:
- Standard Google Play app installation and update metrics (install counts, crash reports, country of install) โ collected by Google Play, not by us
- Device type and Android version โ as reported to Google Play, not to us
- Advertising identifier (AAID) โ used by Google AdMob to show relevant ads. You can reset or limit this ID in Android Settings โ Privacy โ Ads
Information We Do NOT Collect:
- โ Your real name, email address, or phone number (unless you voluntarily email us for support)
- โ Your location or GPS data
- โ Your contacts
- โ Your payment information (Google Play handles all purchases)
- โ Photos, microphone audio, or any device sensors
- โ Your browsing history outside the app
- โ Any health, financial, or other sensitive personal data
๐ How Your Data Is Stored
On your device (local storage):
- Your username, stats, achievements, certificates, preferences, and game history are stored in your phone's private app storage
- Data is accessible only to Decade Trivia โ other apps cannot read it
- Android's built-in device encryption (on by default for Android 10+) protects this data at rest
Android Auto Backup (optional, handled by Google):
- If you have Google Account backup enabled, Android may include Decade Trivia's data in your personal Google Drive backup
- This backup is in your personal Google Drive โ it is NOT sent to us, and it is encrypted by Google
- You can disable this in Android Settings โ Google โ Backup
Challenge sharing:
- When you challenge a friend (Classic or Big Climb), Decade Trivia generates a shareable link that contains an encoded version of the challenge โ your username, your score, and the question seed needed to reproduce the same questions
- The link is shared by you, through your own messaging or social apps. We do not see this link, do not store it on any server, and do not track who you sent it to
- The recipient sees only what is encoded in the link itself
โ
All local data is deleted when you uninstall Decade Trivia. There is nothing left on our servers because nothing was ever sent to our servers.
๐ข Advertising (Google AdMob)
Decade Trivia displays advertisements to support free access to the game. Ads are served by Google AdMob, a Google advertising service.
Where ads appear:
- A small banner ad at the bottom of the home screen
- A small banner ad at the bottom of the result screen after a game
- Occasional full-screen (interstitial) ads after every third completed game, with a minimum 3-minute gap
Where ads do NOT appear:
- โ During gameplay โ you will never see an ad while answering a question
- โ During the first two games you ever play
- โ During The Big Climb gameplay
- โ On certificate share screens
- โ For users who have purchased "Remove Ads" (when this feature is available)
What AdMob receives:
- Your device's advertising identifier (AAID) โ a resettable ID assigned by Android, not your real identity
- Generic device information: model, OS version, screen size, rough country/language
- App identifier (com.tigerapps.decadetrivia)
Google AdMob uses this information to select and serve advertisements. AdMob's data handling is governed by Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy. To learn more about how Google uses information from apps that use its services, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Your ad choices:
- You can reset your advertising ID at any time in Android Settings โ Privacy โ Ads โ "Reset advertising ID"
- You can opt out of personalized ads in Android Settings โ Privacy โ Ads โ "Opt out of Ads Personalization" (you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized)
- For users in the European Economic Area, UK, and Switzerland, the app will display a Google-managed consent dialog allowing you to grant or deny consent for personalized ads, in compliance with GDPR and the EU Digital Markets Act
๐ In-App Purchases
Decade Trivia offers optional in-app purchases processed through Google Play Billing. We do not collect or store any payment information. All transactions are handled securely by Google Play.
Possible purchases include:
- Tip the Developer โ Optional voluntary tips (Coffee, Lunch, Big, Huge tiers). These are pure thank-you contributions and provide no in-app benefit other than our gratitude.
- Remove Ads (when available) โ One-time purchase that removes banner and interstitial advertising for the lifetime of the app on the purchasing device.
- Premium Decades (when available) โ One-time purchase that unlocks additional decade content.
Tips are voluntary. We remember a simple counter of how many tips you've sent (stored locally on your device) so we can show a thank-you message and avoid prompting you again too soon. Nothing about tips is sent to our servers.
For purchase refunds, contact Google Play Support. We cannot issue refunds directly because we never receive your payment information.
๐ Cross-Promotion Network Calls
Decade Trivia occasionally fetches a list of other apps published by TigerApps from a static JSON endpoint hosted on our servers. This list is shown on the result screen and in the "More Apps" section.
This network call:
- Sends only standard HTTP request information (your IP address, which is necessary for any internet request, plus the user-agent string identifying it as our app)
- Does NOT send your username, stats, scores, advertising ID, or any other personal information
- Returns a small JSON file listing app names, icons, and Play Store links
- Is cached on your device for 12 hours to reduce data usage
- Fails silently if you are offline โ no crash, no retry storm
Your IP address is not logged or stored by us beyond what is technically necessary to deliver the response.
๐ Third-Party Services
Decade Trivia uses the following third-party services:
- Google AdMob โ Advertising. See the Advertising section above. Google Privacy Policy
- Google Play Billing โ In-app purchases. Google handles all payment data. Google Privacy Policy
- Google Play Services โ App distribution, updates, in-app review prompts, and (where applicable) the User Messaging Platform consent dialog for EEA/UK users. Google Privacy Policy
- Android Auto Backup (Google) (optional) โ Encrypted backup of app data to your personal Google Drive. Controlled by you in Android Settings.
- Vercel โ Hosts the static JSON file used for our cross-promotion section. Vercel Privacy Policy
- Flutter (Google) โ Open-source app framework with no built-in data collection
Decade Trivia does not use: Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics for Firebase, Amplitude, Mixpanel, AppsFlyer, Adjust, Crashlytics, Sentry, Bugsnag, or any social media SDKs. ๐ Your Rights
For EEA / UK users (GDPR and UK GDPR):
You have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your personal data, as well as to object to processing. Because Decade Trivia stores nearly all your data locally on your device, you can exercise these rights directly:
- Access โ open the app and view all your stats, achievements, certificates, and history
- Rectify โ change your username at any time in Settings โ Profile โ Reset username
- Erase โ Settings โ Advanced โ Reset all progress wipes your stats, achievements, certificates, and rotation history. Uninstalling the app removes everything else
- Object โ for personalized advertising, you can withdraw consent at any time via Settings โ Privacy options (EEA/UK only) or via Android Settings โ Privacy โ Ads. You can stop using Decade Trivia at any time
For advertising, our legal basis is your consent (EEA/UK) or our legitimate interest in funding free app development (other regions where consent is not required).
For California users (CCPA):
California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
Decade Trivia does not sell your personal information. Under CCPA's broad definition, the use of advertising identifiers by AdMob to serve personalized ads may constitute a "sharing" of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. California residents can opt out of personalized ads as described in the Advertising section above (Android Settings โ Privacy โ Ads โ "Opt out of Ads Personalization").

๐ถ Children's Privacy
Decade Trivia is rated for users 13 and older in compliance with Google Play's minimum age ratings and COPPA.
The content of Decade Trivia covers cultural events from 1960 to 1999, intended primarily for adult and teen audiences who are nostalgic for or curious about those decades. We do not market to children under 13 and do not knowingly collect any information from them. Our age-gating is enforced via the Google Play Store rating system.
If a parent or guardian discovers that a child under 13 has installed Decade Trivia, they should uninstall the app; all local data is removed on uninstall.
โ ๏ธ Trivia Content Disclaimer
โ ๏ธ Decade Trivia covers cultural and historical events from 1960 to 1999. Some questions may reference assassinations, wars, disasters, social movements, and other serious historical events. We aim to be respectful and factual, but if you find a question inaccurate, offensive, or in poor taste, please report it via the in-game flag icon or email us.
Trivia answers are researched and cross-referenced, but errors are possible. Reporting incorrect questions helps us improve the database. Reported questions are reviewed by us; we may remove or rewrite them in future updates.
๐ Data Security
Because Decade Trivia stores nearly everything locally, there is no central database of user game data to breach. The security of your local data depends on:
- Your phone's lock screen and encryption (enabled by default on modern Android)
- Your Google Account security, if you use Android Auto Backup
The cross-promotion JSON endpoint is served over HTTPS via Vercel's infrastructure. Ad serving by AdMob and IAP processing by Google Play also use TLS-encrypted connections.
๐ Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by:
- Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
- For significant changes affecting how we handle your data, displaying a notice within the app on next launch
Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
